Wash Your Face, Kid
It's hard enough to get my tween daughter Tess to wash her hands. A month ago, I stopped hounding her about cleaning her face too. "My face. My choice," she literally said to me. How do you argue with that? I didn't. Instead, I introduced Tess to Bette Green's "The Starter Cleansing Stick" ($20; $17 for a subscription) and stepped aside. This balm stick--made with cucumber fruit extract, rose hip seed oil and other clean ingredients--comes with a carrying pouch and a cute headband. (FYI: the formula is free of sulfates, parabens, mineral oils, parabens or petroleum-based products. Smells like rose and citrus.) Does Tess now wash her face every single night? Probably not. But I do know she uses her cleansing stick regularly and takes more pride in her skin now that she has her own simple routine.
