The Best Waterproof Mascara

Talk about sexy: guess who showered with five different waterproof mascaras? (One at a time, of course.) I also tested a few formulas in my sweaty hot yoga class and wore the top two picks in humid New Orleans last weekend. Hands down, L'Oreal's Voluminous Waterproof Mascara ($8) got my vote. Not only does this hydrating formula apply clump-free, it also stays on without smudging or flaking. The other mascaras I tried were too drying for my sensitive eyes--I wear contact lenses--or took too much effort to remove. I once lost half my lashes to a tube of waterproof Urban Decay mascara. FYI: our lashes thin as we age, so avoid any eye makeup that needs to be scrubbed off. Also, change out your mascara every three months to prevent transmitting bacteria to your eyes, which can cause lash loss too.
