Is Deodorant Really Bad for You?
Not sure about you, but I am way too busy fighting for reproductive rights and gun laws to obsess over the supposed dangers of deodorant. Turns out that much of this anti-antiperspirant talk can be traced to an erroneous email chain letter from the 1990s. The email claimed that antiperspirants block sweat glands, which funnel toxins to your lymph nodes and cause breast cancer. Nope. The American Cancer Society refutes this claim, ladies--the concern that aluminum in deodorant causes Alzheimer's is also unfounded. (But it is the aluminum that causes those yellow underarm stains on tops.) The most legit caveat to consider? Fragrance, even essential oils, can cause irritation to sensitive skin.
