Who Wants To Be In My Commune?

Pretty Ripe | Volume 36 - Who Wants To Be In My Commune?

I'm just going to put this out there: we women outlive men by about five or six years on average--and some of us have already "outgrown" certain men or chosen lady partners. So what if we all start planning mini female communes where we could support each other and laugh and share huge plates of pasta and wine when we're, like, old? Maybe we all begin saving now for a villa in Italy or a rambling Victorian house by the sea in Maine or a chalet in the mountains of Sweden? (FYI: I know nothing about the topography of Sweden.) I do know that I want the latter years of my life to be filled with laughter and girl talk and tiramisu. (This study revealed that the support of friends is more meaningful than support from family members in later life.) IMO, making a pact with your close friends to commune when the time is right is just modern day retirement planning.
