F*CK is the New Advil
I love to curse. The staccato explosions of a string of F bombs can mimic a machine gun--and feel so satisfying. Well, guess what? Swearing really does makes us feel better. According to Emma Byrne's book Swearing is Good for You, profanity actually relieves pain and the more severe the curse word, the higher the relief. Why? Our pain threshold heightens because of increased adrenaline--and the sheer act of screaming "shit" can distract us from a stubbed toe. Studies also show that swearing while working out can increase our athletic performance. F*ck, yeah.
