Does Marriage Counseling Work?

So I recently rewatched Jerry Maguire--which holds up like a Miracle bra--and realized that the relationship between Tom Cruise and Renee Zellweger doesn't complete me. Actually, it's the deep love marital between Cuba Gooding Jr. and Regina King that inspires couple goals. They not only support each other, but kiss and caress like they met a month ago. I want that. Don't you? According to experts, most couples with problems wait six years before seeking professional help. I get it. We're so busy keeping it all afloat that we ignore the leaks. But you don't need to be facing "issues" to explore couples therapy. In fact, more partners are talking to therapists before they encounter a crisis, according to this NYT article. Does couples therapy work? Tough to say, but the success rate has jumped from 50% in the 1980s to about 70% currently, thanks to modern behavioural approaches. I like those odds.
